Mayor Yemi Mobolade Guest Speaks at Antelope Trails!
Antelope Trails Elementary had a very special visitor yesterday — Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade! Our third-grade students had the exciting opportunity to meet Mayor Yemi and learn all about local government and what it means to be a mayor.
During his visit, Mayor Yemi spoke with the students about the important responsibilities he has as the leader of our city and the team that works alongside him to do what is best for our community. He explained how decisions are made to help keep Colorado Springs safe, clean, and a great place to live. He also encouraged students to dream big! The students listened closely and asked great questions about how government works and how people in the community work together to make a difference.
Mayor Yemi also shared ways that even kids can help their community. His advice?
Pick up trash to help keep our neighborhoods clean.
Follow rules and laws to stay safe and respectful.
Be kind — because kindness makes a big impact!
The third graders were inspired by Mayor Yemi’s message and excited to find ways they can be leaders too.
Thank you, Mayor Yemi, for taking the time to visit our Antelope Trails Antelopes and for encouraging our students to care about their community. We’re so glad you came!
