Returning Student Registration
Please note: Any parent wishing to apply for school choice for an incoming kindergarten student will be able to do so during Kindergarten Pre-registration.
The Beavercreek City Schools offers students the ability to attend a school other than the one they are zoned for. BCS School Board Administrative Policy JFB governs the school choice process. Policy JFB includes the following parameters:
- Transportation to a “choice” school is the responsibility of the family. The parent/legal guardian agrees to provide transportation to and from that school on a daily and timely basis.
- The request is submitted prior to the first Friday in June deadline, as noted on the application.
- Owning property in a school attendance area does not automatically qualify a student to attend a particular school. School assignments are made according to where the student resides.
- Space is available at the school of choice.
Note: Eligibility for athletics at the middle and high school levels is governed by the South Carolina High School League. Attending a choice school may affect a student’s eligibility to participate in sports.
Lottery System
If a school receives more applications than space available, a lottery will take place. The following procedures will be used in the lottery:
- Children of district employees working in the attendance area will be given first priority.
- Siblings of children already enrolled in the school by choice will be given second priority.
- If siblings are seeking placement in a choice school, the family’s name will be “put in the hat” only one time. If that family’s name is drawn, then all siblings will be selected.
- The district reserves the right to limit choice enrollment by grade level or program as staffing or funding requires.
